Winner is...

The winner of this thought process of mine is a somewhat difficult choice. Judging solely on the donuts it is a landslide victory for Krispy Kreme. They just feel and taste like a donut should simple as that. Dunkin Donuts feel and taste like cake, but once again this is about donuts not cake. However as a store as a whole Dunkin Donuts is far superior. They have the variety to be a very well balanced breakfast place that is much more than its donuts. Krispy Kreme has a heavy focus on the donuts which is why they lack in variety. In my humbled opinion as a donut consumer I have to with Krispy Kreme as the overall winner. Since they are donut shops first I feel that the donuts should be the star. And Krispy Kreme accomplishes that better than Dunkin Donuts.

Donut Consistency

Whenever you go to Krispy Kreme you are guaranteed one thing, that the donut is going to be as the store name says, crispy. You know that the glaze is going to be on the that donut perfectly every time, and every time it will start to melt away with each bite. The donut cake itself is also always the same crispy texture it is every time. However at Dunkin Donuts it is always a gamble. You never know how much glaze or frosting will be on top of those doughnuts. But they do have a guarantee for the donuts texture, which is that of a cake. I always feel like I am eating a slice of cake when i eat at Dunkin Donuts, which isn't necessarily a bad thing its just not fit for breakfast. So this point goes to Krispy Kreme.

Other Food Options

As most people will know, specialty restaurants often have other options than the primary food they offer. In the case of Dunkin Donuts those options are numerous. They have many different forms of breakfast sandwiches, at least twelve. In some cases Dunkin Donuts will have an ice cream shop attached to it, providing even more options. Krispy Kreme also offers ice cream to choose from. As well as slushies and milkshakes. They also have bagels for sale if you were to chose to buy a bagel at a doughnut shop. However based on the sheer amount of offers that Dunkin Donuts has, they will win this round.

Bevarages

Fortunately for Dunkin Donuts and its variety, it doesn't just end at the food. They have a multitude of different flavors of coffee and teas that can even challenge Starbucks. And when you are donut shop with drinks to rival a coffee shop, you know you have quite the amount of drinks. Krispy Kreme on the other hand, not exactly known to have too many drink choice. They typically offer what most breakfast places have, and some variety with coffee. So when it comes to the beverages, Dunkin Donuts easily wins out.

Variety

When it comes to the variety of donuts, it easily seen that Dunkin Donuts is the winner of that category. The only type of donuts I have seen exit a Krispy Kreme is a normal glazed donut. The problem isn’t with the glazed donuts, because they are great, but the lack of variety contained within the shop. Dunkin Donuts is consistently throwing out new flavors as if they couldn’t care about what the people want. They even have “Manager Creations” which could literally be anything. However there is no way of knowing what it is, because the title of donuts is always a vague name like “Chocolate Surprise.” Regardless Dunkin Donuts is still the victor of the variety round.

Freshness

When it comes to whether or not the donuts come out fresh, Krispy Kreme has typically been the leader in this category. Not only do many stores have the conveyor belt of fresh made donuts rolling around the store, but you can also see employees switching out donuts if they have been sitting there a while. At Dunkin Donuts there is no telling how long those donuts have been sitting there. They could have been there the entire day, and when you buy it it'd just taste stale and unpleasant. So when it comes to the freshness of the donuts, Krispy Kreme wins the round.

Abbreviating the Name

The purpose of this blog is to figure out which food industry is better, Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts. Before I even begin the discussion about the doughnuts, I would like to talk about the store names them self. Krispy Kreme has a far superior name than Dunkin Donuts. Not only is the name more appealing, because Krispy Kreme just sounds more delicious, but even abbreviating the name is better. Calling Krispy K is infinitely better then Dunkin D. Dunkin D just sounds like a terrible porn star name, while Krispy K still has the appealing vibe of being delicious food. Simply put when it comes to the name, Krispy Kreme wins outright.
